James Winter

I've been cooking the food I love to eat at The Butchers Arms

Biography

James Winter is somewhat of an anomaly in the trade, running his pub’s kitchen entirely on his own. The Bristol-born chef originally wanted to be a journalist, but after taking time out from his studies and working in a kitchen, decided cooking was his true calling.

He opened the Butchers Arms in 2007 with his wife Elizabeth, who had significant front-of-house experience having worked at a number of Bristol’s four-star hotels and several high-end London restaurants.
