Situated in the stunning Cadeleigh countryside, near Tiverton, this newcomer to the 2020 Top 50 Gastropubs list has got a lot going for it.
Owned by Nicholas Hack and Tina King, the pub was also recently crowned locally as the most dog-friendly pub in the region.
But, while we do enjoy furry four-legged friends, we’re more interested in what the pub has to offer when it comes to food.
There are three menus, including the current menu for the month, a selection of dishes for younger diners and the Sunday menu.
On the main menu, diners can expect to see dishes including Nocellara olives, focaccia, extra virgin olive oil and balsamic; confit tomato and basil tart with mozzarella and cracked pepper; and Fowey mussels with chorizo, Sandford cider and roasted leek with warm focaccia to start.
Mains have included Newlyn day boat catch fish served with roasted sweetcorn and chorizo chowder; pan seared chicken breast, pumpkin, roasted onion and pine nut; and Elston Farm lamb rump, harissa, black olive and tahini.
For pudding, there’s a selection of home-made classics as well as more adventurous ones, or locally made ice cream or the safe, yet tasty, cheese plate with port or Somerset Pomona to wash it down with.
