Nestled in the charming historic Dartmoor town of Chagford, this gastropub focuses on local produce, cooked with skill and care.

The Chagford Inn has been a pub for more than two centuries where it has had a multitude of names but since 2020, Ollie Vernon and Jordan Ralph have been at the helm alongside their two children and Labradors.

The duo's ethos at the pub is to provide an unforgettable experience through a combination of outstanding service in a relaxed atmosphere, utilising the best produce in the county on its ever-changing menu.

Local farmers supply the meat while garden growers drop off daily deliveries and fish is landed fresh along the south coast.

Regenerative farming values are at the heart of the operation and with this in mind, meat is pasture fed, free range or wild and butchered in house while pasta and bread are also made on site.

Sample menus have featured creamy garlic forest fungi wild mushrooms on toast to start, with Dartmoor venison, heritage squash caponata, glazed fig and pickled forest fungi mushroom for main.

This Devon gastropub also has a pub classics menu where dishes have included confit Sladesdown duck leg with red onion jam, Denhay's bacon, smoked cheddar, pretzel roll and fries.
