The Tamil Crown

Islington, London

From the team behind the fellow gastropub The Tamil Prince and restaurant Tamila comes The Tamil Crown.

Spread across two floors in a converted Victorian boozer, old school pub charm has been blended with refined dining alongside its low-lit ambience and banging playlist, this north London venue is the perfect plan for any occasion.

Open seven days a week, guests can enjoy curries, small plates as well as cocktails and pints at this neighbourhood pub with South Indian roots.

Start your meal with a portion of okra fries before diving into the mains where you can expect mouth-watering coconut prawn moilee and Thanjavur chicken curry with a freshly made roti, followed by thick and creamy shrikhand, made from strained yoghurt, lightly sweetened, scented with cardamom and finished with saffron and pistachios or gulab jamun, steeped in rose and saffron syrup for afters.

Sundays at the Tamil Crown are all about Indian-inspired roasts, where diners can choose from lamb shank, sea bream, masala chicken or veggie curry, served with British and Indian inspired trimmings including potato and green peas thokku, turmeric roast potatoes, coconut lentil cabbage, mixed vegetable avial, Yorkshire pudding, spiced fried cauliflower, rice, roast carrots and beetroot raita, served with a samabar curry on the side.
