2024 One to Watch finalists announced

The highly anticipated list reveal is coming soon and for the first time we opened up our One to Watch entries to any and all pubs across the UK who think they have a standout offering. Whether you’ve been open six months or six years we had an open call out which had a great response with many fantastic pubs entering.

The first round of judging has been completed by our expert panel and we are well onto the second stage where our finalists get visited by a dedicated Top 50 Gastropub judge.

Each year the calibre of pubs entering gets higher and the judging gets harder with six finalists going through to the next stage!

The Victoria at Oxshott, a community gastropub in Surrey, bagged the title at the Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastropub Awards in 2023, with experts impressed by its stellar food and drink offer.

Co-owner Simon King said about the pub “We wanted to combine the levels of [quality and service] you get in London and replicate it outside of the capital. Especially now, people don't commute to work as much as they used to and there’s obviously more demand as well.”

This year’s finalists stretch from London to York with judges being impressed by the in-depth applications and dedication to their communities and customers.

The finalists for One to Watch 2024 are:

The Barley Mow in Mayfair, London, a landmark Mayfair pub, exquisitely restored, sporting a handsome ground-floor bar and a vibrant first-floor restaurant, serving refined classic British food with a touch of French decadence.

The Three Horseshoes in Fordham, a family run country pub and restaurant. Born out of a passion for great food and hospitality who are committed to bringing the very best in local produce, friendly service, fantastic wines, and a great selection of local beers.

Bulls Head in Chesterfield, nestled in the heart of the peak district in a hideaway village. Serving modern British cuisine in a warm, friendly environment. Their chef presents the best fresh, grown, bred and foraged produce from the local area.

Lime Tree Inn in Great Ouseburn, a beautiful rural village nestled midway between the Yorkshire Dales and Moors. The Lime pub is family-run making seriously good food in relaxed and friendly surroundings.

The Riverside at Aymestrey in Leominster, authentic and atmospheric, the 16th century black and white building is surrounded by the natural beauty of the River Lugg valley. The team pride themselves on their passion for sustainably and ethical sourced food.

Jose Pizarro The Swan Inn, Claygate, a modern pub with boutique rooms. The Surrey pub has a typical British pub feel, but in true José style serves delicious Spanish classics using the best Spanish ingredients alongside locally sourced produce.

All finalists will be invited to the event in January with the winner being revealed on the night. Congratulations to our shortlist and good luck!
