Gastropubs have perfected the Sunday Roast, and there’s no time like Easter Sunday to truly tuck into the dish which, let’s be honest, is probably the pinnacle of British culture.

The Parlour, Kensal, south London

This gastropub will be open all hours for Easter and will be serving lots of hot crossed buns, but there’s also a hearty Sunday Roast on offer. Guests really are spoilt for choice, with the pick of a Sirloin of Shorthorn Beef & Fresh Horseradish, Brined & Roasted Goosnargh Chicken with Bread Sauce and Paddock Farm Tamworth Pork with Bramley Apple & Sage.

There’s also a Posh Sunday Roast Platter sharing option which comes with all the trimmings, as well as mushroom and celeriac dishes for those seeking a meat alternative.

White Swan at Fence, Lancashire 

The one Michelin-starred pub in Lancashire sends out the best food, pours the finest drinks, and makes people feel at home, ultimately sending you away as happy as possible.

Get the family together again for Easter Sunday to enjoy a Michelin-starred Sunday lunch at the White Swan. The four course set menu is £80 per head.

The current number 7 pub produces dishes of the highest quality using the freshest local produce allowing the chefs to switch up the menus daily. Previous set menus have included Iberico pigs’ cheek, celeriac, mustard & thyme, and Slip sole cooked in Perigord truffle butter.

Freemasons at Wiswell, Lancashire

This pub is celebrating Easter Monday (10 April) with a £45 three course menu. Children under 10 get half the portion for half the price.

Celebrations can continue well into the evening as Freemasons has opened up the pub for the night. If you pay to stay in one of the luxury rooms, the seven course Taste of Spring Freemasons tasting menu comes complimentary.

On the menu will be dishes like Truffled Cheese Hot Dog, Goosnargh Chicken and Rice Pudding. 

From £240 to £350, the package also includes ‘cooked to order’ breakfast which can be enjoyed overlooking the gorgeous Ribble Valley countryside.

And that’s not all: the Sunday Lunch Spring Retreat package gives guests the option to stay over on a Sunday night with a complimentary three course Sunday Lunch for two, and full English breakfast.

The Unruly Pig, Suffolk

Britain’s No.2 gastropub will be serving up a Sunday Roast for Easter. However, there’s something for everyone: between 12pm to 4pm, the pub will offer an a la carte menu which includes dishes like Cured Wild Halibut and Burrata on Grilled Focaccia to start. 

Mains can range from Guinea Fowl to Tortelloni ‘in brodo’, and desserts may include Panna Cotta, Rhubarb Crumble and Warm Chocolate Mousse.

On Sunday evening, the pub will continue serving the a la carte menu sans roast options, as well as the Be Unruly tasting menu and its Chateaubriand offer (reduced by 30%).

The Mariners, Cornwall

Sunday lunch will also be on offer for Easter Sunday at The Mariners, Rock, from 12pm to 5pm. Dogs are invited to the party on the pub’s ground floor, but booking is advised. 

The meal is comprised of a Roast Cornish Dexter sirloin of beef, braised short rib, beef dripping roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding filled with the trivet of onions, cauliflower Davidstow cheese, red wine, braised red cabbage, carrot, swede and nutmeg mash & red wine gravy. It’s priced at £27 for one course or £34 for two.

There’s also the vegetarian roast, which includes chargrilled hispi cabbage, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding filled with the trivet of onions, cauliflower Davidstow cheese, red wine, braised red cabbage, carrot, swede and nutmeg mash & vegetarian red wine gravy. One course of the veggie version is £17.00 and two courses come to £24.00
